Ashanti assembly member killed sparks investigation

The Ashanti Regional Security Council has launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of Samuel Danquah, the assembly member of Aboabo in the Amansie West District. The incident occurred after an altercation between residents of Mpatuam and security officers of Asanko Mines, which left Danquah dead and two others with gunshot wounds. The tragic event fueled outrage among residents, who set fire to equipment belonging to a subcontractor of Asanko Mine, reportedly valued at 28 million dollars. In response, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, led a delegation to the community on Friday to mediate and calm tensions.
