NGOs Boost Menstrual Hygiene and Health Screening for Northern Ghana Communities.

Afrika Nyornu, a health-focused non-profit organization, partnered with three other NGOs—Ladies of Marshall, Charity Centre for Capacity Building and Development (CHACDET), and Newage Agric Solutions—to host a health education event for schools and communities in Northern Ghana. The initiative focused on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) education and cervical cancer screenings, aiming to empower local women and students with essential health knowledge and services.More than 2,000 students, including boys, learned about menstrual hygiene, while around 300 women received cervical cancer screenings in the communities of Boaterigu, Botanga, and Tamale. The workshops followed guidelines from WASH United, a Berlin-based NGO, to engage young people effectively. Gifty Maloe Nartey, Executive Director of Afrika Nyornu, expressed gratitude to the partner organizations and called for more support to extend vital health services to other underserved communities.
