Institute Seeks Regulatory Commission to Fix Nigeria’s Ailing Courier, Logistics Sector

Professor Simon Emeje, Chairman of the Courier and Logistics Management Institute (CLMI), has called for the urgent establishment of an independent regulatory commission to reposition Nigeria’s courier and logistics industry. Despite being Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria is among less than 3% of countries without such independent regulation, leaving the industry plagued by inconsistent tariffs, conflicting policies, and a harsh business climate. Emeje warned that stagnant regulation forces firms to close or shift sectors and lamented overlapping controls from customs and other agencies.
