NDLEA arrests wanted drug kingpin after 13 years on the run

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a wanted drug kingpin, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, who had been in hiding for 13 years over cocaine and heroin trafficking. The NDLEA said Chidiebere first entered its net in 2013 over a cocaine shipment and was arraigned before Justice Ayokunle Faji of the Federal High Court in Lagos, but he jumped bail and disappeared. His name resurfaced in February 2024 as one of the alleged masterminds behind the importation of 49.70 kilograms of heroin from South Africa, intercepted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. China based businessman, two Angolans held for 236 cocaine wraps

A China based Nigerian businessman and two Angolan nationals have been arrested after excreting a combined 236 wraps of cocaine at the Abuja and Kano international airports. The suspects were intercepted by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency during outbound screening for international flights. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said 34 year old Nigerian, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulue, was arrested on a Qatar Airways flight from Kano to China via Abuja and Doha. Acting on intelligence, officers asked that he be deboarded in Abuja, where a body scan showed he had ingested illicit drugs. He was placed under observation and later excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams. NDLEA nabs China bound trader with 95 cocaine wraps at Kano airport

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested a 62 year old Lagos based businessman, Nwabueze Nicholas Izueke, at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport for ingesting 95 wraps of cocaine.​ He was intercepted on January 31, 2026 during outward clearance for an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Kano to China via Addis Ababa. A body scan showed he had swallowed illicit drugs, and he was placed under observation until he excreted 95 jumbo sized pellets of cocaine weighing 1.589 kilograms in seven excretions.​ Izueke, who claims to trade in clothing and auto spare parts in Lagos, told investigators he agreed to smuggle the drugs to raise money to complete his country home in Iwollo, Enugu State.​ NDLEA also reported a series of other recent operations across the country. Maduro to face US judge after capture

Deposed Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro is due to make his first appearance in a United States federal court in Manhattan on Monday, two days after he was seized in a U.S. military operation in Caracas and flown to New York. Court officials say the hearing, scheduled for around noon, will be an initial appearance and arraignment on long standing U.S. federal charges.​ Maduro faces a four count indictment accusing him of leading a 25 year narco terrorism and cocaine trafficking conspiracy that allegedly used Venezuela’s state institutions and security forces to move tons of cocaine into the United States.
