Energy Ministry Distributes Clean Stoves to Women in Jamestown.

The Ministry of Energy has distributed 700 clean cooking stoves to women in Jamestown to promote healthier cooking practices and reduce reliance on firewood and charcoal. This initiative, part of the National LPG Promotion Programme and Cylinder Recirculation Model, aims to encourage the use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) for cooking, improving public health and reducing deforestation.Energy Minister Herbert Krapa highlighted the government's commitment to sustainable energy, targeting 50% LPG usage by 2030. He emphasized that the stoves will help reduce respiratory illnesses caused by smoke from traditional cooking methods. Participants were also educated on safe LPG usage and the benefits of clean energy solutions.Chief Director Wilhelmina Asamoah underscored the environmental, health, and economic advantages of clean cooking, pledging to expand the initiative nationwide.
