Gov Mbah: Why We’re Honouring Football Legend Christian Chukwu
Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has described the late football legend, Christian Chukwu, as a pioneer who laid the foundation for the growth of Nigerian football and a symbol of national unity. Speaking at a novelty match between Ex-Rangers and Enugu All Stars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, the governor—represented by the Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Dr. Felix Nnamani—said Chukwu’s legacy would continue to be celebrated in Enugu and across the nation. “Chukwu and his teammates achieved so much for Nigeria at a time when footballers received little or no reward. Unlike today’s players who command huge transfer fees, they sacrificed for the country without financial gain.
