Nwabali leaves Chippa United after four years

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially left South African club Chippa United after a four year spell.​ The club confirmed his departure in a statement on Thursday, saying the 29 year old had submitted a formal request to leave despite signing a three year contract extension in 2024. Chippa United said it accepted his request and granted him a release.​ “We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club,” the statement read. Chippa United worried over Nwabali’s fitness for AFCON

Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is a major doubt for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after fresh concerns over his fitness. Chippa United head coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi revealed that the 28 year old is nursing both an ankle problem and a more serious hand injury that may require surgery.​ Vilakazi said the injuries were made worse during Nwabali’s recent outing with the Super Eagles.
