Sam Kerr could make her long-awaited return for Chelsea on Friday in the Women’s Super League season opener against Manchester City, 20 months after her last appearance. The Australia striker has been sidelined since January 2024, when she tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a training camp. Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor confirmed that Kerr will be part of the squad for the clash, though she has yet to decide if the forward will start. “She’s in a good place, mentally in a good position,” Bompastor said. “People want her on the pitch, she has experience, but she’s been away a long time.
