99 Percent Northern Bandits Are Nigerians
Security and intelligence analyst Yahuza Getso has stated that 99 percent of bandits operating in Nigeria's North-West and North-Central regions are Nigerian citizens. Speaking on Channels Television, Getso noted that the authorities are aware of their identities and locations, emphasizing that most of these criminals are not hiding in remote or hard-to-reach places. His comments follow nationwide outrage after recent attacks, including the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State and the killing of Brigadier General Musa Uba in Borno. Getso suggested that security agencies have the intelligence needed but must act effectively to address the situation. He stressed that increased boldness among bandits and insurgents highlights the urgent need for stronger responses and better counterterrorism strategies in Nigeria.
