UEW Chancellor demands stronger action against illegal mining after Ayensu River pollution

The Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Neenyi Ghartey VII, has renewed his call for stronger action against illegal miners whose activities have heavily polluted the Ayensu River, the main water source for the Agona Kwanyarko treatment plant. The pollution has triggered water shortages across several parts of the Central Region. Kasoa Man Arrested After Girlfriend Found Dead in His Room

The Kasoa Ofaakor District Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, identified as Kwame Whisky, after his girlfriend, Linda, 22, was found dead in his room at Awutu Papaase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region. According to reports, Linda visited the suspect on Thursday, September 25, 2025, and shared a meal he had prepared. She spent the night in his room but was discovered lifeless the following morning. Nana Kwaw Abbey-Quaye, Chief of Papaase Number One and a relative of the deceased, confirmed to Adom News that Linda’s body has been taken to the police mortuary for preservation as investigations continue. Police say inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of death.

FDA to inspect school food vendors in Central Region

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Central Region has announced plans to inspect the certifications of food vendors in schools to ensure that pupils are served safe and healthy meals.
