Three Super Eagles stars make AFCON 2025 Best XI

Three Super Eagles players – Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey – have been named in CAF’s Best XI for the TotalEnergies AFCON Morocco 2025. The list was released by CAF’s Technical Study Group after the tournament, where Nigeria finished third.​ Senegal and champions Morocco dominated the selection with four players each in the Team of the Tournament. CAF said the squad was chosen after detailed technical evaluation using live data, multi angle video and on site assessments by experts.​ Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou led their contingent, alongside Achraf Hakimi, Noussair Mazraoui and top scorer Brahim Díaz. A host of Premier League players will be absent when the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in Morocco, as national teams confirm their final squads for the tournament. According to the latest breakdown, about 40 players from the English top flight are expected to represent various African countries at AFCON 2025.​ The list cuts across most clubs, with some teams losing multiple first team regulars for several weeks.
