Kwasi Appiah, the head coach of the Sudan national team, has temporarily stepped down from his role as a member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Executive Council. This follows a directive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), concerned about a conflict of interest as Appiah will coach Sudan against Ghana in the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers. CAF cited its statutes and FIFA's ethics code, urging Appiah to step down to preserve the integrity of the competition. Sudan will face Ghana in the qualifiers on October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
