Lookman named Best Playmaker as CAF unveils AFCON 2025 awards
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the full list of awards and official statistics for the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco. Senegal were crowned champions, Morocco finished runners up and Nigeria took third place after a high scoring campaign. Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman was named Best Playmaker of the tournament after providing four assists, capping a brilliant competition for the Super Eagles. Senegal’s Sadio Mané won Player of the Tournament, while Morocco’s Brahim Díaz finished as top scorer with five goals and Yassine Bounou was voted Best Goalkeeper with five clean sheets. CAF’s statistics showed Nigeria as one of the standout teams, with the Super Eagles recording the most consecutive wins (five), the highest number of goals scored (14) and the highest average possession at 66 percent.
