Mahama Launches New Housing Project for Ghana Armed Forces
President John Dramani Mahama has cut the sod for a new accommodation project for the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), signaling a renewed push to improve the living conditions of military personnel and modernise ageing barracks infrastructure. The sod-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Burma Camp during activities marking the Armed Forces’ end-of-year West African Social Activities (WASSA) celebrations. The event was held at the forecourt of the GAF Public Relations Department. The housing initiative forms part of a broader regeneration programme aimed at transforming the Burma Camp enclave. According to officials, the project will replace outdated, low-rise residential blocks with modern high-rise apartment complexes.
