Eight dead in B.C. school shooting
An 18-year-old has been identified by police as the suspect in a mass shooting that left eight people dead and dozens injured in British Columbia, Canada. Authorities say Jesse Van Rootselaar was found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators have not yet established a motive. The attack began at a private residence, where the suspect’s mother, 39, and 11-year-old stepbrother were discovered dead. Police then received reports of an active shooter at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School at approximately 13:30 local time on Tuesday. Officers arrived within minutes, entered the building after hearing gunfire, and located the suspect deceased shortly afterward.
