IGP Meets Special Operations Team After Gbiniyiri Clashes in Savannah Region
The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has met with the Special Operations Team deployed to Bole and surrounding areas in the Savannah Region to review measures aimed at restoring peace and security. The meeting, held at the Savannah Regional Police Headquarters in Damongo, followed the IGP’s emergency visit last week after violent clashes in Gbiniyiri left at least 31 people dead and dozens injured. According to figures from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), about 1,500 people have been displaced since the violence erupted on August 24, 2025.
