Edo police recover N300,000 extorted from furniture maker
The Edo State Police Command says it has recovered N300,000 allegedly extorted from a furniture maker by officers attached to the Oba Market Area Command in Benin. Police spokesperson CSP Moses Yamu said in a statement on Monday that the implicated officers had been detained and would face disciplinary action. Viral video sparks action The move followed a viral video posted by a social media influencer, which brought the extortion case to public attention.“The officers involved have been promptly identified, the money has been fully recovered and returned to the victim, while the said officers have been detained,” Yamu stated.
