GES Investigates Alleged Malpractice in 2025 BECE

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched a full-scale investigation into allegations of malpractice in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). In a statement issued on Sunday, September 7, the Service said it had taken note of media reports, particularly a JoyNews TV documentary, which exposed alleged cheating in some schools. GES assured the public that transcripts of the documentary would be obtained and carefully reviewed as part of the probe. Management reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice and cautioned that any official—teaching or non-teaching—found culpable would face strict disciplinary sanctions. According to the Service, the investigation has the full backing of Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu and will be conducted in collaboration with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Security, and law enforcement agencies to protect the integrity of the BECE.
