Tinubu mourns ex ASUU president Biodun Jeyifo
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mourned Professor Emeritus Biodun Jeyifo, describing the late former ASUU president as an intellectual giant and towering figure in global academia. Jeyifo, a renowned literary critic and public intellectual, died on Wednesday. In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Jeyifo’s major contributions to African literature, postcolonial studies and cultural theory. He also highlighted his widely respected interpretations of the works of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka. The President recalled Jeyifo’s leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, noting that he brought temperance, foresight and wisdom to negotiations with government.
