High Court Dismisses Torkornoo Review as Abuse of Process
The Human Rights Division of the Accra High Court has dismissed the judicial review application filed by suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, with presiding judge Justice Kwame Amoako ruling on July 30, 2025, that the motion was an “abuse of court processes” and that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the case. This marks Torkornoo’s second legal setback in efforts to halt proceedings under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution—her earlier injunction request and constitutional petition remain pending before the Supreme Court. The June 9 application sought nine reliefs, including declarations that the Article 146 committee’s conduct was unlawful, a quashing of its proceedings, and a prohibition on continuation absent authenticated documents.
