UN chief reacts to reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over reports that Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in joint United States and Israeli airstrikes. Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Guterres said he had received reports that the strikes on Tehran and other cities had resulted in the death of Khamenei and other senior Iranian figures, but stressed that the UN could not independently confirm the claim.
