FG: 150,000 Nigerian Children Born With SCD Each Year The Federal Government has revealed that about 150,000 Nigerian children are born with the sickle cell gene (SS) every year. This alarming figure was disclosed by Mr. Alaba Balogun , Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare , during events marking World Sickle Cell Day on June 19, 2025.
