Brains behind alleged coup knew the consequences – Defence Minister
Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd), says the military officers detained over the recent alleged coup plot were fully aware of the gravity of their actions before moving against the government. Speaking in an interview with Turkish public broadcaster TRT, Musa said the suspects “must have made up their minds when they decided to do this and must have considered their families,” insisting they are prepared to “face the wrath” if found guilty. His comments followed complaints from some relatives who alleged witch hunt in the arrests. The Defence Headquarters had earlier confirmed that investigations conducted under military procedures uncovered involvement of some personnel in an alleged plot to overthrow the government.
