NAF boosts civil military relations in Akwa Ibom with school project

The Nigerian Air Force has launched a new school project in Akwa Ibom State as part of efforts to strengthen civil military relations and support local development. The project, sited at Edemaya Unity College in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, was delivered under the Chief of the Air Staff Special Intervention Project.​ The new block consists of three classrooms, a principal’s office and staff rooms built in honour of retired Air Vice Marshal Iboro Harry Etukudo, who hails from the area. NDLEA nabs 80 year old ex convict, finds tramadol hidden in full body mannequins

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested an 80 year old ex convict, Jeremiah Isaiah Nkanta, for allegedly returning to the illicit drug trade barely three years after his last conviction. He was picked up at his home in Mmanta Abak village, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, where officers found 5.7 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis.​ Nkanta was first arrested by the NDLEA on December 14, 2022, prosecuted and sentenced to two years in prison for dealing in drugs. Troops rescue 25 hostages arrest 10 suspects in nationwide raids

The Nigerian Army says its troops have rescued 25 kidnapped victims and arrested 10 suspects in a series of nationwide operations carried out over the last 48 hours.​ According to a source at Army Headquarters, the suspects include alleged bandit collaborators illegal miners violent extremists and a suspected arms dealer. Correctional service empowers Akwa Ibom inmates with starter packs

The Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom Command, has equipped five inmates with business starter packs to support their reintegration into society and help them build sustainable livelihoods after release. Police Arrest Suspected Cultist for Rape Attempt in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a notorious cultist and armed robbery suspect, Happiness Alphonsus Iseyen, for allegedly attempting to defile a teenager. The 26-year-old suspect, a resident of Ini Local Government Area, was apprehended on August 28, 2025, following a tip-off from a concerned citizen. Akpabio Urges Nigerians to Safeguard Public Facilities

Police Dismantle Drug Cartel, Arrest Four in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has uncovered a drug cartel operating in Uyo, arresting four suspects and seizing large quantities of illicit substances during coordinated raids. Police spokesperson DSP Timfon John, in a statement on Sunday, said the arrests followed intelligence-led operations targeting criminal hideouts across the metropolis. Recovered items included large quantities of cannabis, popularly known as Ikong Ekpo. The suspects were identified as Gideon Patrick Edet, Paul Joseph Effiong, Mfon Cletus Ikpe, and Gideon Edet Etim. DSP John reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining its crackdown on drugs and other crimes under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Baba Azare. She urged residents to support security agencies by sharing timely intelligence on suspicious activities, stressing that criminal elements would face decisive action if they failed to desist.
