Kpandai Farmer Appeals for Help After Losing GH¢7,000 Yam Harvest in Mysterious Fire.
A devastating fire has left 35-year-old farmer Sampson Nakuwu and his family in Kpandai, Northern Region, reeling after losing their entire yam harvest. The fire destroyed over 1,400 tubers of yam and more than 5,000 yam sets just before the new year, wiping out an investment of GH¢7,000.Nakuwu, speaking to Graphic Online, recounted the traumatic incident, saying, “I was somewhere harvesting yam, and before I could realize it, the whole shed was on fire. Two children were rescued from the shed, but I don’t know what caused the fire.”The loss has left him unable to repay the loan he took to finance his farm.
