Agradaa & Ato Essien Excluded from 998-Person Presidential Amnesty
The Presidency has confirmed that Agradaa (Patricia Asiedu Asiamah) and the former Capital Bank CEO, William Ato Essien, were not among the 998 prisoners granted a presidential pardon on August 18, 2025. The announcement, signed by presidential spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, listed various beneficiary groups—but excluded these high-profile figures. Those included in the amnesty were 33 seriously ill inmates, 36 inmates aged over 70, 87 death-row convicts whose sentences were commuted to life imprisonment, two nursing mothers, 51 lifers whose terms were reduced to 20 years, and 787 first-time offenders who are to be released.
