A volcano in Ethiopia has erupted for the first known time in more than 10,000 years, sending massive columns of smoke and ash into the sky and disrupting air travel as far away as India. The Hayli Gubbi volcano, located in the Afar region in Ethiopia’s northeast, came alive on Sunday after millennia of inactivity.
