Court Warns Kanu to Open Defence or Lose Right to Trial

A Federal High Court in Abuja has warned detained IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu that he could lose his right to defend himself if he fails to open his case at the next hearing. Justice James Omotosho issued the warning on Tuesday after Kanu again refused to enter his defence in his ongoing trial for alleged terrorism. This marks the fourth time he has failed to do so since the prosecution closed its case and the court dismissed his no-case submission. The judge said Kanu would be considered to have waived his right to defence if he does not open it by November 5.
