Accra Warehouse Fire Still Burning Strong

A massive fire that broke out at a Chinese warehouse in Lartebiokorshie, Accra, is still burning days after it started on Tuesday, September 9, according to the Ghana National Fire Service. The blaze, which began around 4:00 p.m., has been difficult to control because the warehouse contained highly flammable goods including rubber slippers, leather bags, and other synthetic items. DO2 Desmond Ackah, Head of Public Relations for the Service, explained that the stored materials reignite even after being doused, making the fire unusually stubborn. While early reports suggested possible fatalities, officials have confirmed that no deaths have been recorded.
