 NAFDAC Shuts Chinese Supermarkets, 8 Shops in Abuja

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has shut down two Chinese supermarkets and eight cosmetics shops in Abuja for violating health and safety regulations. The Chinese supermarkets, located in the Jabi district, were sealed for selling food products with labels only in Chinese, which is illegal in Nigeria. All regulated products must have English labeling for the Nigerian market. In a separate operation, NAFDAC closed eight cosmetics shops in Wuse Market. These shops were found selling banned, expired, and unregistered products. The confiscated items included illegal skin whitening gummies, unapproved aphrodisiacs, and dangerous body enhancement supplements. PSC names conference hall after late ex-chairman Solomon Arase

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has renamed its Chairman’s conference hall after the late Solomon Arase, former Chairman of the Commission and 18th Inspector General of Police. In a statement on Thursday, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, said the newly named “Solomon Arase Hall” is located on the sixth floor of the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja. “The Police Service Commission has named its Chairman’s Hall on the 6th floor of its Corporate headquarters, as Solomon Arase Hall in honour of its late Chairman,” Ani stated. Arase, who served as IGP between April 2015 and June 2016, was appointed Chairman of the PSC in 2023 and held the role until 2024. NiMet Forecasts 3 Days of Rain, Thunderstorms Nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted three days of rainfall and thunderstorms across most parts of the country beginning Monday, September 22. According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday, isolated thunderstorms and light rains are expected in parts of the northern states, including Adamawa and Taraba, during Monday morning, with similar conditions later in the day across Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Southern Borno, and Taraba. FCTA promotes 49 deputy directors to directors

Police arrest suspects, recover four stolen vehicles in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has arrested suspects linked to vehicle theft and recovered four stolen vehicles in separate operations. Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday. She explained that on July 23, a woman identified as Mrs. Okanemhen reported at Jabi Division that her driver, Abubakar Nuhu, from Bauchi State, fled with her trailer (registration number GWA 40 XC) after delivering cement in Kogi State.
