 No Officer or Soldier on Lawful Duty’ll Be Punished — Defence Minister

Defence Minister Mohammad Badaru Abubakar has assured that no officer or soldier performing lawful duties will be punished following the recent altercation between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and military personnel in Abuja. Speaking at the Armed Forces Remembrance Day briefing, Badaru emphasized support for armed forces acting within the law, and praised operational milestones under President Tinubu—over 13,000 terrorists and criminals neutralized, 17,000 arrested, nearly 10,000 hostages rescued, and major bandit commanders defeated. Badaru celebrated advances in indigenous defence production and procurement, including armoured vehicles and drones, strengthening Nigeria’s security infrastructure.
