Police Arrest Five for Impersonating Officers in Kano
The Kano State Police Command has arrested five men for allegedly impersonating police officers and extorting citizens across three states. The suspects — Aliyu Abbas (35), Sani Iliyasu (47), Ashiru Sule (41), Abubakar Yahaya (45), and Adamu Kalilu (45) — were apprehended on Thursday by operatives of the command’s Special Intervention Squad. In a statement issued on Saturday in Kano, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the suspects were found in possession of a fake police warrant card, handcuffs, mutilated Naira notes, CFA 2,500, and a blue Peugeot 406 vehicle. Kiyawa said the suspects had confessed to extorting unsuspecting citizens in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna States.
