IET-GH President urges engineers to uphold integrity
The President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Ghana (IET-GH), Engr. Henry Kwadwo Boateng, has called on newly inducted engineers to make integrity and excellence the cornerstone of their professional practice. Speaking at the induction ceremony of over 200 new engineers, Engr. Boateng emphasized that Ghana’s progress depends not only on technical expertise but also on the moral responsibility of its professionals. “Engineering is about people, not just machines,” he said. “Every bridge, system, and cable shapes the future of human lives.” He cautioned against corruption, waste, and negligence, pointing to national setbacks such as abandoned infrastructure projects and electricity losses. He also condemned acts of environmental damage that have shut down water treatment plants, stressing that millions suffer from the greed of a few.
