Hohoe Celebrates Opening of New 7,000-Seat Stadium.

Hohoe in the Volta Region has unveiled a new 7,000-seat stadium, marking a milestone in local sports development. The project, initially conceived in 2005 by MP John Peter Amewu when he was Municipal Chief Executive, was designed to nurture athletic talent in the region. Despite a pause in construction after Amewu left office in 2008, the project resumed in 2016 with support from local chiefs, private individuals, and the community.Amewu, recalling the humble beginnings of the project with 120,000 concrete blocks intended for a hotel, emphasized the stadium’s potential to cultivate future sports stars. Already, local athletes have caught the attention of national and international scouts, and plans to expand the stadium are underway. Amewu hopes to see players from Hohoe represent Ghana’s Black Stars in the future.
