Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente has announced his squad for the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, mixing experienced internationals with promising young talents.
La Roja face two away fixtures to open their journey: against Bulgaria in Sofia on Thursday, September 4, and Turkey in Konya on Sunday, September 7. Both matches kick off at 20:45 local time.
The squad was revealed on Friday, August 29, at the Royal Spanish Football Federation headquarters in Las Rozas. A press conference will follow later in the day, while players will report to training camp on Monday, September 1.
Rising stars join veterans
Barcelona teenagers Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi headline the new call-ups, rewarded for their excellent club form. Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino also made the list, along with Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella, reflecting a strong Premier League presence in the squad.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) by N75 per litre, bringing the new rate to N1,175 per litre from the previous N1,250. In a circular sent to fuel marketers on Monday, the refinery said the adjustment follows the de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, which had affected energy prices over the past three months.
