Federal Gov’t Orders Probe Into Kogi Prison Break

The Federal Government has ordered an immediate investigation into the jailbreak that occurred at the Koton Karfe Custodial Centre in Kogi State. In a statement issued by his media adviser, Babatunde Alao, on Monday in Abuja, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, condemned the incident, calling it unfortunate Dr Tunji-Ojo assured that efforts would be made to recapture all escaped inmates by utilising the service’s advanced biometrics and existing technological solutions. The Minister further instructed the Acting Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche to visit the Kogi facility, assess the situation and initiate a thorough audit to determine the causes of the incident. “We are on top of the situation. INEC Receives Petition To Recall Natasha From Senate

Some registered voters from the Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State have submitted a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, seeking the recall of the suspended Senator representing the district at the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Kwara Gov’t Partners CSO To End Child Marriage

The Kwara State government has vowed to protect the girl-child in the state against early marriage. Consequently, the state government said it was partnering the National Coalition of Civil Society To End Child Marriage in Nigeria to achieve its goal of discouraging girl-child early marriage. 4 Drug Kingpins Bag 95 Years In Jail, Forfeit Vehicles, Others

Four drug kingpins: Ogbuji Christian Ifeanyi; Iloduba Augustine Chinonye; Shuaibu Nuhu Isa (a.k.a Don) and Zidon Zurga, have been convicted and sentenced to a total of 95 years in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos and Yola, Adamawa State over trafficking of cocaine and skunk worth over N4.6 billion.
