The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), in collaboration with ground troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), has neutralised more than 30 insurgents in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed in a statement on Friday, September 5, 2025, that the joint operation followed reports of heavy terrorist engagement against friendly forces at Dar-El-Jamal village.
Responding swiftly, the Air Component of OPHK launched an Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) mission and carried out Air Interdiction (AI) strikes. En route, the aircrew linked up with ground forces in Banki, who confirmed reinforcements were already mobilised.
“On arrival at Dar Jamel, the aircrew visually identified friendly forces before ISR scans revealed terrorists fleeing northwards from the town towards nearby bushes. In a series of three precise and successive strikes, the fleeing terrorists were decisively engaged, resulting in the neutralisation of over 30 insurgents,” Ejodame said.
Reinforcement troops later secured the location and stabilised the situation. Ejodame described the outcome as a testament to the “seamless synergy” between the Air Force and ground troops, stressing that joint efforts remain crucial in dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in the North East.
He assured Nigerians that the Air Force, in collaboration with sister services and security agencies, will continue to pursue coordinated counter-terrorism operations to safeguard lives and communities.
The strike at Dar-El-Jamal comes just days after NAF carried out a successful air interdiction mission on September 3, targeting a newly identified terrorist enclave west of Zuwa in the Sambisa area. That operation killed more than 15 insurgents and destroyed critical structures used by commanders behind recent attacks around Bitta.
“These carefully planned and executed missions reinforce the Nigerian Armed Forces’ commitment to defeating terrorism and protecting vulnerable communities,” Ejodame added.
