Barcelona football star Lamine Yamal faces public backlash and possible legal consequences after his 18th birthday party triggered outrage in Spain.
The event took place on July 13 and reportedly included:
- The hiring of individuals with dwarfism for entertainment
- Inviting women based on specific physical attributes
Around 200 guests , including family, friends, and teammates, attended the celebration.
But controversy erupted when model Claudio Calvo revealed that organizers paid 12 women to attend based on their breast size , and used people with dwarfism as part of the party theme .
Spanish Officials Demand Investigation Into Exploitative Party
Spain’s General Director of Disability Issues, Jesús Martín , called for an investigation into the event.
“We are concerned that people with money believe they can act without consequence. The law applies to everyone,” he said.
He warned that such events set a dangerous example for young fans who see athletes like Yamal as role models.
“This kind of behavior undermines dignity and respect in our society.”
The Association of People with Achondroplasia (ADEE) also condemned the use of people with disabilities for entertainment.
“This violates our laws and ethical values,” ADEE stated.
They pledged to take legal action to protect human dignity and hold those responsible accountable.
Yamal Could Face Massive Fine
Spanish media outlet Marca reports that Yamal could be hit with a fine of up to £867,000 if found guilty of violating human rights and decency laws .
The probe focuses on whether the party breached laws protecting people with disabilities and upheld standards of ethical conduct at high-profile events.
“Public figures must understand that influence comes with responsibility,” one official said.
His office urged celebrities to lead by example—not exploit others for attention or amusement.
