The Southeast Renewed Hope Agenda has praised President Bola Tinubu for what it calls deliberate and commendable inclusion of young people in his cabinet. National Coordinator Belusomchukwu Enwere spoke in Enugu during the group’s Christmas food and palliatives outreach.
Enwere said it is heart warming to see Nigerians under 40 actively involved in the administration, arguing that the old notion of youths as “leaders of tomorrow” is giving way to a reality where they now occupy positions of responsibility. He added that entrusting governance roles to young people shows the president’s confidence in their capacity and signals a positive shift in national leadership.
The SERHA leader also commended Tinubu for initiatives targeted at the Southeast, especially the creation of the Southeast Development Commission, which he said reflects a commitment to inclusive development. He noted that the commission is expected to drive infrastructure growth and economic opportunities in the region under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Enwere further lauded the administration for measures he said have contributed to easing food prices, explaining that the group’s palliative exercise was meant to complement federal efforts to reduce hardship during the festive season. SERHA distributed food items, wrappers and other essentials to families as part of its Christmas programme.
He said the group decided to key into Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision by supporting vulnerable households and promoting social solidarity at community level. According to him, the goal is to ensure more families can celebrate Christmas with dignity despite economic pressures.
“We are here to celebrate with our people because food is essential to every family,” Enwere said, adding that the president wants Nigerians to be happy and that SERHA’s outreach is designed to reinforce that objective. He pledged that the group will continue to mobilise support for government programmes in the Southeast.

The Federal Government has banned recipients of honorary doctorate degrees from using the title “Dr” before their names in official and public settings. Under the new directive, the “Dr” title is now reserved strictly for holders of earned doctoral degrees and qualified medical doctors. The policy was communicated through fresh guidelines issued by the National Universities Commission as part of wider reforms on the award and use of honorary degrees.
