Nigerian Culture Set for Grand Celebration in Canada

The Flavours of Nigeria Festival is back with its second edition , set to take place on August 9, 2025 , at Gage Park in Brampton, Ontario .

This year’s event, themed “A Cultural Voyage,” promises a rich celebration of Nigerian cuisine, music, fashion, folklore, and traditions —bringing together thousands of attendees for a full day of immersive cultural experience .

Festival Curator Chukwuebuka Anyaduba announced the event during a press briefing in Abuja, describing it as more than just a festival:

“This is a journey into the soul of Nigeria—through our food, stories, music, and artistry.”

The 2025 edition will feature a diverse lineup of cultural and creative experiences, including:

Inspired by Benin royalty, this elegant brunch will offer curated Nigerian dishes served in a setting that blends tradition with modern sophistication.

🧒 Nigerian Folklore for Kids

Interactive storytelling sessions will teach children about Nigeria’s oral traditions, values, and folk tales in a fun and engaging way.

🎶 Live Musical Performances

Expect electrifying performances from top Afrobeat and traditional Nigerian artists , bringing Nigerian rhythms to life on Canadian soil.

A visually striking parade featuring dance, costumes, and masquerades will highlight the richness of Nigerian festivals and rituals.

👗 Fashion & Craft Marketplace

Emerging and established Nigerian designers will showcase their work, from handcrafted fashion to jewelry and accessories that celebrate Nigerian craftsmanship.

Taste your way through Nigeria’s most beloved dishes—jollof rice, suya, puff-puff, moimoi , and more—showcasing the diversity of Nigerian cuisine.

“This event promises more than entertainment—it offers a full sensory immersion into Nigeria,” Anyaduba said.


A Platform for Cultural Exchange and Economic Ties

Co-Curator and Nigerian Ambassador to Canada, Akin Oduntan , described the festival as a major step in promoting Nigerian identity and innovation abroad .

“We are showcasing the Nigerian spirit of creativity, unity, and resilience on an international stage.”

Organizers confirmed that senior government officials from both Nigeria and Canada will attend, highlighting the festival’s role in strengthening bilateral ties .

The City of Brampton and the Brampton Board of Trade have thrown their weight behind the event, supporting its growth into a flagship platform for Nigerian tourism and economic diplomacy .
