Article arrow_drop_down

The FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office on Friday released video footage of the suspected gunman who fatally shot conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

According to the bureau, the video shows the suspect climbing onto a rooftop before the attack, then leaping off and fleeing after firing the fatal shots. Investigators later discovered the weapon and ammunition used in the killing in a wooded area near the university.

The FBI wrote on X:

“Around 12 pm Mountain Time on September 10, the subject climbed up to a rooftop; after he shot and killed Charlie Kirk, he jumped off and ran away. He left a gun and ammunition in a wooded area near the university.”

Officials also confirmed that trace evidence was recovered from the rooftop, including shoe impressions, a forearm imprint, and a palm print.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit fbi.gov/utahvalleyshooting.

Earlier in the week, the FBI had released initial still images of a person of interest and announced a $100,000 reward for information leading to the shooter’s arrest.

Meanwhile, two individuals who were misidentified online as suspects told AFP they were terrified by the wave of misinformation targeting them as the manhunt continues.

Kirk, 31, a prominent ally of Donald Trump and head of the largest conservative youth movement in the U.S., was shot dead while attending an event at Utah Valley University.

The trend has continued into 2026, with at least 1,091 deaths recorded from violent attacks in just the first 41 days of the year, underscoring the scale of Nigeria’s security crisis despite years of increased defence spending . Oil Prices Jump Amid Strait of Hormuz Crisis

Global oil prices climbed sharply after Iran intensified strikes across the Middle East, raising fears of disruption to energy supplies. Natural gas prices also surged by up to 25% amid concerns about supply constraints. Iran warned commercial vessels against passing through the strategic waterway, through which roughly 20% of global oil and gas shipments transit. Shipping activity at the entrance to the strait has slowed dramatically, with analysts cautioning that a prolonged disruption could drive energy prices significantly higher. In the UK, the FTSE 100 opened nearly 1% lower, with airline shares hit by widespread airspace closures across the Middle East. European markets experienced sharper losses: France’s CAC […]
