Boigouna Aloys, a 47-year-old Burkinabe man, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the High Court in Accra for the murder of his German wife, Claudia Weizmann, and their 14-year-old daughter. The conviction followed a unanimous guilty verdict from a seven-member jury on two counts of murder.
The tragic events unfolded in Kokrobite, Accra, where Aloys fatally struck his wife with a hammer during an argument. Fearing that their daughter would report the crime, he subsequently strangled her. After the murders, Aloys buried their bodies on their property to avoid detection.
Neighbors raised alarms when they noticed the absence of the mother and daughter and reported a foul odor emanating from the house. This led to police investigations, which revealed the presence of human remains, ultimately resulting in Aloys’ arrest. During questioning, he confessed to the crimes, admitting to the violent acts committed against his family.
When given the opportunity to speak before sentencing, Aloys remained silent, offering no explanation or remorse. The family, who had moved to Ghana in January 2020, was living in a three-bedroom apartment on a ten-plot property prior to this tragic incident.
