The National Security Council has instructed the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to evacuate 706 containers owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from the port to a National Security warehouse in Abelemkpe. This directive, outlined in a confidential letter signed by National Security Coordinator Osman Abdul-Razak, also mandates that port charges on these containers be suspended until further investigations are completed.
The letter, dated March 27, 2025, was also shared with the Minister of Transport and the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). While the contents of the containers and the reasons behind the investigation remain undisclosed, the move highlights the high level of security interest in the matter. Authorities are expected to release more information as the situation unfolds.
