The excitement is building for the upcoming sixth edition of the Kwahu Mountain Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, April 19, 2025. Expected to attract over 1,000 athletes, participants will race through a 21km route starting from Nkawkaw Goil Fuel Station, passing through Obomeng, Mpraeso, and finishing at the Kwahu Traditional Council’s Office in Bepong.
Organized by Marathon Foundation Ghana in collaboration with the Kwahu Traditional Council, this year’s marathon promises several exciting enhancements, including participation certificates for all runners and medals for the top 20 finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories. In addition, the top-performing athletes will be awarded cash prizes and sponsor products.
According to Edward Boahen, Project Manager of the marathon, this year’s event will feature a range of side attractions, including free health screenings and guided tours of Kwahu’s tourist sites. These activities will be part of the Kwahu Easter Festival celebrations, offering visitors a full cultural and sporting experience.
To ensure participants’ comfort, all competitors will receive free accommodation during the event.
The Kwahu Mountain Marathon has become one of Ghana’s most challenging long-distance races and serves as a platform for discovering new athletic talent, promoting sports tourism, and highlighting Kwahu as a premier sporting destination.
Athletes interested in participating can register through the Kwahu Mountain Marathon website.
