Biola Adebayo Opens Up About Her Separation
Popular Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo has publicly confirmed her separation from her husband, Oluwaseyi Akinrinde , after more than three years of marriage.
In an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, Biola wished her ex-husband a happy birthday while revealing that the couple parted ways in April 2024 —more than a year ago—and are now focused on raising their son together through co-parenting .
“Happy birthday to my ex-husband and my baby daddy,” she wrote.
“I pray that grace will abound unto you. I pray you find peace in all your ways.”
This marked the actress’ first public confirmation of the split.
First Public Confirmation of Marriage Ending
Biola made it clear that she and Akinrinde decided to separate last year, but chose not to share the news publicly until now.
“Yes, you heard me right! My husband and I have been separated since April last year,” she revealed.
“But we’ve decided to maturely and peacefully co-parent our dear son, who means everything to us.”
She also addressed fans directly, acknowledging their disappointment and asking for understanding.
“To everyone that feels disappointed, I’m sincerely sorry. I wished it worked, but it’s better to stay alive to tell the story. Please keep us in your prayers.”
Emotional Toll Behind the Scenes
Despite maintaining a composed public image, Biola shared how difficult the past year has been emotionally.
“While I go about making other people happy during the day, my pillow is drenched with my own tears almost every night for the past 14 months,” she admitted.
She credited her strength to her faith:
“But I gain strength from Christ, who loves me eternally and gave Himself for me.”
The actress urged followers to practice kindness, reminding them that no one truly knows what another person is going through unless told.
“Let’s learn to be kind to people; you have no idea what others are going through until they say it.”

A Short-Lived Marriage
Biola and Akinrinde tied the knot in April 2021 , shortly after a brief courtship. In a 2023 interview on her YouTube channel, Biola explained why they moved quickly into marriage.
“I realized that we had a lot in common. We got married in less than six months after dating because I knew what I wanted.”
The couple welcomed their first child in April 2023 via surrogacy , a journey Biola openly shared with fans.
Though their marital relationship has ended, Biola emphasized that their shared priority remains the well-being of their son.

Three Rescued as Rescue Teams Search for Trapped Victims After North Industrial Area Building Collapse
Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate and extract individuals believed to be trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed building in Accra’s North Industrial Area following a structural failure that has left several people injured.
