Two Soldiers Sentenced for Kidnapping and Robbery of Small-Scale Miner.

Two soldiers have been sentenced to 10 years in prison for their involvement in the kidnapping and robbery of a small-scale miner, Mr. Andrews Asante, in Ametubuom. Lance Corporals Alfred Mensah and Matthew Amoako, alongside their accomplices, ambushed the miner’s home and forced him to hand over money and valuables totaling GH₵96,500. The robbers, who wore military uniforms, beat the miner and his family members before fleeing with the stolen goods. They were arrested after a police chase, but their fellow soldiers, Frimpong and Francis, remain on the run.

1 in 10 Girls Had Sex Before 15 – GSS Report.

A recent report from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), based on the 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey, has revealed that one in every ten adolescent girls (10-19 years) engaged in sexual activity before the age of 15. This accounts for 10.2% of the adolescent population, which makes up 22% of Ghana’s total population.
