Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade and 16 other players have arrived in camp at the Hilton Hotel, Yaounde, ahead of two pre WAFCON friendly matches against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses.
Both friendlies will be played at the Military Stadium in Yaounde on Saturday, 28 February, and Tuesday, 3 March. The games are part of both teams’ preparations for the 14th Women Africa Cup of Nations, which will hold in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
Reigning champions and 10 time winners Nigeria will play in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and debutants Malawi, opening their title defence against Malawi on 18 March in Casablanca. Cameroon, runners up in 2016, are drawn in Group D with Ghana, Mali and debutants Cape Verde and will also kick off on 18 March against Mali in Fes.
Those already in Falcons camp include Canada based playmaker Ngozi Okobi Okeoghene, goalkeepers Comfort Erhabor and Fatima Oloko, defenders Glory Ogbonna, Oluwatosin Demehin, Shukurat Oladipo and Kafayat Shittu. Midfielders Christy Ucheibe, Esther Onyenezide, Precious Christopher and Jennifer Echegini are also present, as well as forwards Gift Monday, Joy Omewa, Favour Nkwocha, Folashade Ijamilusi and Rinsola Babajide.
The team trained on Wednesday at the annex of Stade Omnisport Ahmadu Ahidjo and are scheduled to use the main pitch on Thursday evening. The stadium hosted Nigeria’s 1 0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses in the 2016 Women AFCON final.
Expected to join the camp are Israel based defender Sikiratu Isah, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defenders Osinachi Ohale and Michelle Alozie and forward Chinwendu Ihezuo. Mexico based wing back Chidinma Okeke and midfielder Halimatu Ayinde are also due in Yaounde.
