Former Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy has been shot dead in Lviv, a western city in Ukraine, authorities confirmed on Saturday. The 54-year-old politician died at the scene from gunshot wounds, prompting an immediate police investigation.

The shooting took place on Saturday, and police have launched a manhunt for the assailant. The motive behind the attack is still unclear, and authorities are working diligently to gather more information.
Parubiy, a key political figure, served as the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament from 2016 to 2019. He was also a prominent leader in Ukraine’s pro-European movements, playing pivotal roles in both the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2014 Maidan Revolution, which contributed to Ukraine’s shift toward European integration.
Zelensky’s Response
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the murder, calling it a “horrific crime.” He vowed that the government would ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
“We will not allow this crime to go unanswered,” Zelensky said in a statement. “Law enforcement agencies have already begun their work, and the investigation will be carried out thoroughly.”

In response to the murder, authorities in Lviv have heightened security measures, while police continue to pursue the gunman. The attack has left the city on edge as investigators work to uncover the identity and motive of the shooter.

Iranian sailors leave Sri Lanka after attack
