Tinubu Praises FCT Overhaul: “Even the Blind Can See It”
President Bola Tinubu has expressed pride in the ongoing infrastructural renewal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , calling it a symbol of progress under his Renewed Hope Agenda .
He made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Wole Soyinka Way–Murtala Mohammed Expressway Interchange , the 11th major project from a list of 17 set to mark his second year in office.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented him at the event in Abuja , where he praised the FCT Administration under Minister Nyesom Wike for turning around the city’s fortunes.
“Even the blind can see what’s happening in the FCT,” Tinubu said.
Interchange Eases Traffic, Boosts Commerce
The newly opened interchange links two major roads:
- Wole Soyinka Way (Arterial Road N20)
- Murtala Mohammed Expressway
It is designed to ease traffic congestion, improve safety, and enhance movement of people and goods in the area.
“This engineering feat will unlock new economic opportunities and reduce travel time,” Tinubu stated.
He added that this is just one part of the administration’s push for better urban mobility and national development.
“Infrastructure must be strong and efficient if we are to grow our economy and improve lives.”
Wike: No Magic, Just Commitment
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike thanked President Tinubu for his leadership and support.
“There’s no magic—just commitment,” he said.
Wike credited Tinubu’s vision and hands-on approach for the successful completion of long-delayed projects like the interchange.
He also thanked the National Assembly for its cooperation.
“When leaders lead with purpose, results follow.”
Wike reiterated that the project was awarded back in 2020 but completed under the Tinubu-led administration , aligning with the president’s policy of reviving abandoned developments.
FCT State Minister Also Applauds Leadership
The FCT State Minister, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud , also praised Tinubu’s leadership.
She described the completed interchange as a reflection of the administration’s focus on transport reform and urban modernization .
“This government is delivering real change in Abuja,” she said.
Mahmoud said more infrastructure upgrades were on the way, all aimed at improving life for residents and commuters.
