President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Katsina State to formally receive the remains of late former President Muhammadu Buhari , who died in a London hospital on Sunday, July 13 , at the age of 82 .
His presidential jet landed at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Airport in Katsina at 1:45 p.m. today , Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
He was received on arrival by:

First Lady Already In Katsina For Funeral Rites
Earlier today, First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu touched down in Katsina to take part in the solemn ceremonies .
She joined members of the Buhari family , dignitaries, and mourners already gathered ahead of the burial.
Security across Katsina and especially in Daura town , where the final rites will take place, has been heightened to manage the large turnout expected.
Thousands have already begun arriving to pay their last respects to the man many Nigerians called “Baba Mai Gaskiya” (Man of Truth) .
Buhari’s Body Received With Full Military Honors
The late former president’s remains arrived earlier this morning from London aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft , landing in Katsina before noon.
Vice President Kashim Shettima led the federal delegation that accompanied the body from the UK to Nigeria.
Now, with Tinubu present, the full state burial protocol is underway.
“We are here to honor a leader who served our country in uniform and in democracy,” said a senior aide.
Buhari’s funeral will follow Islamic rites , and he will be buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State , later today.
